If lightning is close (Cat 1 conditions)
Public guidance · MSS / NEA- StopHalt all outdoor sport, swimming, dragon-boating, construction and open-field training at once.
- ShelterMove into a fully enclosed building or a hard-topped vehicle immediately.
- Leave waterGet out of pools, reservoirs and open water; move away from the shoreline.
- Open groundAvoid tall isolated trees, sheds, metal pavilions and open fields.
- MetalPut down umbrellas with metal shafts, golf clubs, rods and other metal objects.
- WaitResume only 30 minutes after the last thunder, or once the official Cat 1 status is lifted.
